"Sum It Up

So far in precalculus we have been working on graphs. Translating graphs, dilating graphs, and domain a range are the main points we have hit on in this chapter. We have also been working with functions such as:

         Linear= f(x)=mx+b; Quadratic= f(x)=ax^2+bx+c; Power= f(x)=ax^b; Exponential= f(x)=a*b^x

To dilate and translate you have to add, subtract, or multiply to either the x or y variable. An example would be

                                                    g(x)=f(x)-2 OR g(x)=f(x-2)

Addition and subtraction are the same just with addition and multiplication signs. Although, adding and subtraing only translate the graph, meaning it only moves its position. Multiplying, however, changes the entire shape of the graph.

The most difficult thing for me to overcome was domain and range, These a just the limits on how left and right, and high and low the graph can go. The concept eventually clicked though and I understand it very well now.
